More trees for a cooler greener west:
Recruiting Volunteers

We all work better when we work together.

People feel good when they do good, and they feel even better when they do good as part of a group.

Planting days are a great way to for members of your school community to connect.

Getting your hands in the soil has also been shown to be good for our mental health.

HOW CAN YOU PROMOTE YOUR PLANTING DAY AND RECRUIT VOLUNTEERS

You could consider some of the following:

  • Newsletter articles

  • Facebook/Instagram posts

  • Letters home

  • Local pinboards

  • Information for your school website

Sizzle Sizzle

Having a sausage sizzle or something similar with your canteen or volunteers is also a great way to get community members and families involved.

OTHER Things to consider:

  • Think about the days and times when you might have extra parents, community members, or volunteers around to help.

  • A whole-school planting day, or whole-year-level, class-by-class planting day generally works best. This can mean that, though the planting day goes all day, one or two classes will be planting at a time (depending on your volunteer load).
