Nature Journalling with Teachers in Hobson's Bay

In Late October, nine teachers from Hobson’s Bay area gathered at Newport Lakes for an exciting walk with Conservation Ranger Andrew, and artist Claire Mosley.

Participants were lead on an engaging walk with Andrew, meandering through many different kinds of vegetation and histories, collecting small pieces of nature along the way; which they would later draw in Claire’s workshop.

It was very rainy, but very worth it - teachers did some warm-up practices with Claire to ‘tune in’ to the surrounds: Kangaroo ears to tune in to the sounds; drawing natural objects without looking at the page; Using a see-think-wonder activity.

These aspects link to the Resource Smart Schools module in Core B1.2: Professional Learning. If you would like to know more about Nature Journalling, and how you might embed the process at your school, send us an email, or feel free to get in touch with Claire.
