Congratulations to the seven winners of “The Great Australian Platypus Search Poetry CompetitioN”.

And congratulations to all entrants, as every single poem was very special in its own right.

With 152 entries from classes and individual students from across Victoria, it was incredibly difficult for the judges to narrow down the list to just seven winners.

It was clear that all poems were thoughtfully written, and they signified the care and concern Victorian primary and secondary students hold for the platypus. It was clear that they want this iconic species saved from extinction.

We hope you enjoy reading the following winning poems and that they inspire you to keep caring for your local rivers and natural habitats. This will help to ensure the survival of the platypus and all other native river species, both great and small.
